To discover!
For its 4th season, UMA continues its commitment to youth and to urban arts and sports, offering an expanded space for practice and shared experience — open to all.
2025–2026 promises a journey through bold and unique creative worlds, with a special focus on Parkour.
Born in the late 1980s in the Paris suburbs and brought into the spotlight by the film Yamakasi, Parkour is the art of movement — or free running — in urban space. It takes two main forms: one, more visible and common, consists of repeated training of movements in a set location; the other, more ephemeral and endurance-based, is the run. The freedom sought by traceurs places them outside of the everyday world — building a modern-day utopia. They are in constant pursuit of novelty and challenge.
Its philosophy, its visual power, and its uniquely urban approach captivate audiences around the globe. And Switzerland is no exception: among the nine masked torchbearers of the Olympic flame, three were traceurs from French-speaking Switzerland — including Maxime Renaud and Caryl Cordt-Moller, both regular collaborators with UMA!
Starting in September, UMA invites you to discover Parkour through its multidisciplinary workshop program, open to the public. We are honored to welcome Hazal Neyr, former B-Girl turned Parkour star, Joe Scandrett, an extraordinary British free runner, and Swedish athlete Kevin Franzén. These three performers will energize the season’s opening, and dance will be just as present: Lumi Sow, Dayan Akhmedgaliev, and Helder Seabra will share their experience and art through compelling workshops.
UMA places youth and education at the core of its mission, with the goal of making movement and displacement arts more accessible, and expanding the scope of our offerings.
Enrollment remains open for the Total Move multidisciplinary program, as well as for Move classes for children, teens, and young adults.
