UMA – Vernier
A performer with Peeping Tom, Balder Hansen is back at UMA to lead a four-day workshop exploring the relationship between the body and its environment. Not to be missed!
Balder is a Norwegian experimental dancer and choreographer whose work explores the limits of human perception. He began his journey in hip-hop before developing an interest in more theatrical and expressive approaches to movement. He later joined the Academy of Theatre and Dance in Amsterdam, where he graduated. This diverse background has shaped him into an intuitive performer, capable of blending different styles and techniques.
His solo performance Optic Neuritis, inspired by his own experience of sensory loss, subtly explores the boundary between bodily reflexes and physical constraints. Through a striking stage presence, he questions what it means to perceive, feel and move through uncertainty.
He joined Peeping Tom in 2025 for the production Chroniques and continues to collaborate with the company on the creation of Carmen.
This workshop is designed for experienced professional dancers and performing artists with a strong technical background.
