Transforme stands for multidisciplinary programming. Rap is at the top of the bill, and the festival features a line-up mixing regional artists with international headliners. Transforme strives for gender parity in its programming, to unite all rap fans and promote the place of women in a milieu that is often less accessible to them. In addition, the festival takes a pioneering stance based on the discovery of emerging talent. It is also a real springboard for young French-speaking artists, through the Transforme RapFactory project.

Transforme acts as a sounding board for innovative projects stemming from urban cultures as a whole. The team collaborates with local fashion designers, skateboarders, parkour teams, DJs, video artists, tattoo artists and photographers to offer them a space for expression and support the effervescence of street cultures in French-speaking Switzerland.

For its 2023 Edition, Transforme invites UMA for a program of street dance and Parkour performances!

Dorian Rossel

Born in Zurich in 1975, the Franco-Swiss director was educated in Switzerland, England and Grenoble, where he studied Art and Philosophy. He graduated from the Serge Martin Theatre School in Geneva in 1996. He attended various training courses with Robert Lepage, Peter Brook and Claude Régy.

His professional career began at an early age as an actor on stage, in film and as a hospital clown. Between 1998 and 2005, he founded the Collectif Demain on change de nom, creating “contextual” and “hors les murs” pieces, combining theater, dance and visual arts.
With Delphine Lanza, he founded Cie STT / Super Trop Top in 2004.
Together, they experiment with new forms, developing a singular stage language that is demanding and contemporary, yet accessible to all. Telling stories and confronting today’s world by drawing on a variety of dramaturgical sources is the company’s DNA. These shows were quickly spotted, supported and programmed at the Arsenic (Lausanne), the Festival de la Bâtie, the Am Stram Gram theater (Geneva) and the Château Rouge (Annemasse). Anne Bisang associated them with the Comédie de Genève from 2007 to 2010. René Gonzalez associated them with Théâtre de Vidy Lausanne from 2009 to 2014.
Anne Brüschweiler associates them with Théâtre Forum Meyrin from 2014 to 2023. In France, the company was first associated with the Garance/Scène nationale de Cavaillon, then with Les Théâtres Aix/Marseille, and today with the Maison de la culture/Scène nationale de Bourges and the MAL de Thonon-Evian. With agreements from the Canton of Geneva and the cities of Geneva, Lausanne and Meyrin, the company combines research, creation, mediation and touring of its repertoire in Switzerland and abroad.

Dorian Rossel also teaches at a number of national schools: Eracm (Cannes-Marseille), Saint-Etienne, ESAD (Paris) and also in Switzerland at La Manufacture, Les Teintureries and Serge Martin.

Delphine Lanza

Born in Annecy in 1972, the Franco-Swiss actress and director began her career at an early age. At the age of 15, she turned professional, hosting a show on Télévision Suisse Romande. Soon, she was playing one stage and screen role after another in Paris, Switzerland and all over France.
In the cinema, she made her debut in Claude Goretta’s “L’ombre”, opposite Pierre Arditti and Jacques Perrin, then in front of the cameras of Jacob Berger, Nicole Borgeat, David Chidlow, Stéphanie Chuat and Véronique Reymond, Michel Deville, Pierre Maillard and Romed Wyder. Marzall’s “Attention aux chiens” won her the Swiss Film Award for Best Actress.
On stage, she has worked with Françoise Courvoisier, Rezo Gabriaze, Simon Heine, Patrice Kerbrat, Mathias Langhoff, Giovanna Marini, Stanislas Nordey, Andrea Novicov and Robert Sandoz. She directed Blandine Robin in several children’s shows that toured throughout Switzerland and France, and also worked as a director of short fiction films.
In 2004, she founded Cie STT/ Super Trop Top with Dorian Rossel, devoting herself to its development as an actress, artistic collaborator and co-director.

Lali Ayguade

Dance Workshop/Creation
26.02 – 29.02.2024
14:00 – 18:00
Maison des Compagnies – Meyrin

My name is Lali Ayguadé,I’m dancer and choreographer. My first experience as a dancer was watching Michael Jackson, in fact he was the one who motivated me to dance.

I love going to studio. I have always done it, alone or with someone. The studio to me is a place of creativity, where everything is possible, a place of research. On the other hand, the stage is a completely different area for me because there is an audience, there are lights and you are presenting something that you have been working on. For me, when you confront yourself with the public is very important, I think we are different when there is an audience and it is a very beautiful thing, an exchange occurs between them and you.

Luck exists but I believe more in work. You have to work. We are lucky to have this job because if you are a dancer you have to like it otherwise you don’t do it, so when we say – I’m going to work_ you go to a place you like. Work makes things better and better. Obviously there are mistakes, but that’s normal and they are important.

One day I would like to do a solo, It’ s something very difficult for me and of course I would love to do it with some good collaborators.

I don’t know what my biggest mistake is, it’s better not to think about it and move on.

Politics and art sometimes mix. Not always, but in the pieces they often talk about life and what is happening in the world. Time is something that we have created, it is very relative for me but I know that it passes very quickly.

My recommendation for a young artist is to be curious and to play and if they recognizes something they like, to approach it. We need to be surrounded by people who inspire us.

@Lali_ayguade

I am a freestyle dancer, movement researcher, mentor and performer from Ukraine, representing Pottporus dance company, Xfam crew. My main style is hip-hop, but I try not to limit myself, so I explore movement in general and constantly improve my improvisation skills in different styles. I believe that the main growth for any artist is self- understanding, the formation of their vision, methodology and philosophy in dance, art and exchange of honesty, love, humanity. My main goal is to share that love and values of hip-hop with the next generation and create a better foundation for them, and to represent my culture, the land, being human.

I was working as a teacher of improvisation and hip hop freestyle dance in private regular school for 2 years. I also had my own dance space in Kyiv where I was teaching teenagers and adults. With my dance team we were organising dance events, battles, dance camps.2022 I created and led two online courses “Imagery in Dance” with participants from all over the world that greatly influenced my approach to pedagogy and structured my knowledge. “What I want in my life, dance, teaching is compassion, a flow between myself and others based on a mutual giving from the heart.”

Although Linda Hayford is best known as an ambassador of popping, her dance practice has evolved through the encounter between genres and moves. Taking a crossover of styles as her starting point, the choreographer seeks an aesthetic focused on metamorphosis.

Her inaugural solo Shapeshifting (2016) materializes the power represented by the passage from one form to another in an intimate fresco that deploys a succession of chimeras. In AlShe/Me (2019), Linda Hayford, working alongside her older brother Mike Hayford, turns her attention to the ephemeral nature of popping.

Created in 2022, Recovering invites 3 performers to reflect on the healing process following a trauma through the transmission and appropriation of different tools from Linda Hayford’s “Shifting Pop” vocabulary. For Linda Hayford, alteration has become an object of reflection on the constantly changing nature of identity, where every stage embodies a facet of humanity, culminating in the complexity of displacement.
